GHOST PARADE
Chrystie Street, New York, Sept 24, 2020
The helicopters high up in the night sky preceded the shouting, chanting and drumming of a few hundred people who protested the Breonna Taylor decision. Approaching from Delancey Street, they stopped right below my studio window. A woman called through a megaphone, answered by the cries of the crowd.
“Breonna Taylor - No justice - no peace.”
Johnny Lydon performing “Anarchy,” a thought coursing through my mind (I had listened to a Sex Pistols concert this morning.)
The demonstrators moved on, a flashing motorcade of cop cars followed. The beggar on the other side of the street went back to panhandle from the passing cars. The helicopters eventually vanished.
