MEMORY OF LIGHT - LIGHT OF MEMORY

(1998, 2 channel, 16:9 video video projection on wax coated screens, 14:00' loop, stereo sound) 


A passage through a house of memory - the artist's mind upended: streams of thought are flowing through the corridors of a deserted house slated for demolition. They diffuse into the rooms and escape again in dazzling cinematic pursuits, out of a window into the open air, tumble down into courtyards and disappear in puddles, vehicles, passing landscapes and picture archives, only to be summoned back into the old, swaying house and a withering aloe vera plant.


This video shows the piece installed in the crypt of the Muenster Cathedral in Basel during the 2000 VIPER festival.
